Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon

By the Travel Portugal Now team · Published 2 October 2026

Avenida da Liberdade is Lisbon’s grand boulevard: a tree-lined avenue running uphill from Restauradores to Marquês de Pombal, lined with luxury shops, grand hotels, kiosks and patterned pavements. It’s an elegant place to stay and a pleasant walk between the old town and Parque Eduardo VII.

Quick answer: stroll the avenue from Restauradores to Marquês de Pombal, stop at a kiosk café, browse the designer shops, and continue to Parque Eduardo VII for the view down to the river. It’s one of the best areas for upmarket hotels, with metro stations along its length. See places to stay on the Avenida.
