Armacao de Pera: Long Beach Near Benagil

By the Travel Portugal Now team · Published 2 October 2026

Armação de Pêra is a relaxed resort town in the central Algarve with one of the region’s longest beaches, a fishing beach where boats still land, and a lovely cove-dotted coastline to the west. It feels more Portuguese than nearby Albufeira, and it’s close to Benagil.

Quick answer: Armação is about 15 minutes west of Albufeira. Enjoy the long town beach and promenade, take a boat trip from the fishermen’s beach to the Benagil caves, and explore the coves to the west such as Praia da Senhora da Rocha. See places to stay in Armação de Pêra.
