Ponta do Sol: Madeira's Sunniest Village
Ponta do Sol, on Madeira’s southwest coast, is said to be one of the sunniest places on the island. It’s a pretty village squeezed into a valley that opens onto a pebble beach, with a pier, colourful houses and famously beautiful sunsets. It’s also popular with digital nomads.
Quick answer: Ponta do Sol is about 25 minutes west of Funchal. Stroll the seafront and pier, swim from the pebble beach in calm weather, and watch the sunset from the clifftop. Stay at the Estalagem da Ponta do Sol, a design hotel on the cliff. See places to stay in Ponta do Sol.
