Porto in Winter: Weather, Christmas and Cosy Things to Do
Porto in winter is moody and atmospheric: mist on the Douro, port wine by the fire, steaming francesinhas and Christmas lights on Avenida dos Aliados. It’s cooler and wetter than Lisbon, but it’s also quieter, cheaper and cosy. Here’s what to expect.
Quick answer: expect highs of about 14°C, frequent rain and cool nights from December to February. It’s perfect for port cellar tastings, food, museums and cafés. Highlights: the Christmas lights and market, New Year’s Eve on Aliados, and the Perlim Christmas park nearby. Bring a waterproof and shoes with grip.

The weather
