Luggage Storage in Lisbon and Porto: Lockers and Left Luggage

By the Travel Portugal Now team · Updated 8 October 2026

Check out at 11am, fly at 9pm: it’s the classic last-day problem in Lisbon and Porto, two hilly, cobbled cities where nobody wants to tow a suitcase all day. Here’s where you can leave your bags, what it costs in 2026 and which option suits your timing.

Quick answer: ask your hotel first, as many keep bags for free. Otherwise, both airports have 24-hour lockers (from €3.60 for three hours), the main train stations have lockers for up to 24 hours, and apps such as Radical Storage, Bounce and Stasher let you leave bags in local shops for about €2 to €7 per bag per day.

The check-out gap

Hotels usually want you out by 11am or noon, but many flights and trains leave in the evening. You can leave bags where you slept, lock them up at the airport or station, or drop them near where you’ll spend the day.

Prices checked October 2026. Lockers charge per locker; apps charge per bag.

Start with your hotel

Most hotels and staffed guesthouses keep bags before check-in and after check-out, usually free. Self check-in apartments often can’t, as nobody is there to hand them back. Choosing a base? See where to stay in Lisbon and where to stay in Porto.

Lisbon

Airport lockers

ANA, the airport operator, has 234 lockers on the departures floor outside Terminal 1, before security, open 24 hours for up to 72 hours. Terminal 2 has none: see our Terminal 2 guide.

  • Prices: €3.60 for up to 3 hours for a small locker (36 x 48 x 88cm), up to €14.40 for an extra-large. Stay longer and you pay a top-up when you collect, €8.40 more for a small locker for up to 24 hours.
  • Paying: card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

See Lisbon airport to the city centre.

Train station lockers

CP lists lockers at Rossio, Cais do Sodré, Oriente and Sete Rios, run by Portugal Luggage, which also has lockers at Santa Apolónia. Use them for up to 24 hours, only while the station is open.

  • Rossio: on the train level by the ticket offices, handy before a Sintra trip.
  • Cais do Sodré: in the corridor to the street on the river side.
  • Oriente: floor -1, next to the PSP police post. About €6 to €9 a day by size, reportedly open about 8am to midnight. It’s three metro stops from the airport.
  • Santa Apolónia: lockers in the main hall, plus City Lockers inside the station (8am to 9pm).

Lockers in the Baixa

City Lockers has lockers in Rossio metro station (about 6:30am to 1am), under Praça da Figueira (24 hours) and at Rua da Conceição 35 (9am to 8pm). Expect €2 to €3 for up to 2 hours and €7.50 to €11.50 for 24 hours. Its staffed shop on Rua do Crucifixo, by Baixa-Chiado metro, takes any size of bag, 9am to 7pm.

Storage apps

Radical Storage, Bounce, Stasher and Nannybag each list over 100 shops and hotels in Lisbon. Prices start at about €1.50 to €2.50 per bag per day, but many central spots charge €4 to €7. There are no locker-style size limits, but hours depend on the shop.

Book ahead: Radical Storage in Lisbon lets you reserve a spot near Rossio, Santa Apolónia or your hotel, with free cancellation. It’s priced per bag, so if your hotel will hold your bags free, or one small bag fits a €2 locker, do that instead.

Porto

Airport lockers

Porto airport has 104 ANA lockers on level -1, in the passage to the metro, open 24 hours for up to 72 hours. Prices follow the Lisbon scale, from €3.60 for 3 hours. See Porto airport to the city centre.

São Bento and Campanhã

CP lists Portugal Luggage lockers at both stations, for up to 24 hours during station hours. At São Bento they’re in the corridor to the tiled hall; at Campanhã, where Lisbon trains stop, in the tunnel to the platforms.

Near São Bento and Aliados

City Lockers has lockers at Rua dos Caldeireiros 7, three minutes from São Bento (9am to 9pm), in Aliados and Trindade metro stations (about 6am to 1am) and a staffed shop at Trindade (9am to 7pm). Expect €2 to €3 for 2 hours and €7 to €11 for 24 hours.

Book ahead: Radical Storage in Porto has spots around São Bento, Ribeira and Trindade. For one bag and a couple of hours, a locker is usually cheaper.

Cruise passengers

Storage only matters on your first or last day. Lisbon’s main terminal is beside Santa Apolónia station and its lockers: see Lisbon cruise port. Porto ships dock at Leixões; metro line A runs to Trindade and its lockers: see Porto cruise port.

What you can’t store

  • Valuables: ANA asks you not to leave high-value items in its lockers. Keep your passport, cash and laptop with you.
  • Food and dangerous items: perishables are banned from the airport lockers, and weapons or anything flammable everywhere.
  • Liquids: seal bottles well, as leaks aren’t covered. Bought port? Move it to your checked bag when you collect, as hand-luggage liquids are usually limited to 100ml.

How much cover do you get?

Apps advertise cover of up to €10,000 (Radical Storage, Bounce, Nannybag) or €12,000 (Stasher). Radical Storage’s terms say this isn’t insurance: it pays market value minus wear and tear, excludes cash, jewellery and passports, and needs a claim within seven days (thefts reported to police within 48 hours) with a receipt or dated photo. ANA isn’t liable for theft from its lockers. Check your travel insurance.

Late flights and other tips

  • Check pick-up times: airport lockers never close, but station lockers follow station hours and many app shops close between 7pm and 10pm.
  • Take photos: of your bags, their contents and your locker code.
  • Use a lock: a small padlock on the zips.
  • Book ahead in summer: spots near stations fill up.
  • Share a locker: two small bags in one locker cost less than two on an app.
  • Plan your last day: see Lisbon in one day and Porto in one day.
