Algarve Water Parks: Zoomarine, Slide and Splash and More

By the Travel Portugal Now team · Published 2 October 2026

When the kids have had enough of the beach, the Algarve’s water parks are the perfect day out, with giant slides, wave pools, lazy rivers and, at Zoomarine, dolphins and sea lions. Here’s a guide to the main Algarve water parks and how to choose.

Quick answer: the main parks are Zoomarine (Guia, near Albufeira), a marine park with shows, rides and pools, plus Slide & Splash (Lagoa), Aquashow (Quarteira) and Aqualand, which have big slides and wave pools. Most open from late spring to autumn. Buy tickets online to save time. See water park tickets.

The parks

Zoomarine (Guia)

Part marine park, part theme park: dolphin and sea lion presentations, aquariums, rides, pools and a beach area. It’s a full day out and great for younger children. See Zoomarine tickets.

Slide & Splash (Lagoa)

One of the Algarve’s best-known water parks, with lots of slides for all ages, near Carvoeiro and Portimão.

Aquashow (Quarteira)

Big slides and a wave pool near Vilamoura and Quarteira.

Aqualand

Classic water park fun with slides and pools in the central Algarve.

Tips

  • Season: parks generally open from around May or June to September or October. Check the dates before you go.
  • Arrive early in July and August to claim a sunbed and beat the queues.
  • Sun protection: bring high-factor sunscreen, hats and water shoes.
  • Transport: some parks run shuttle buses from the main resorts.
  • Food: parks have cafés, and some allow picnics, so check the rules.
