Where to Stay in Albufeira

By the Travel Portugal Now team · Published 2 October 2026

Albufeira is the Algarve’s biggest resort, with very different areas: a whitewashed old town above the beach, a party strip, and quieter clifftop resorts with some of the region’s best beaches. Choosing the right area makes all the difference. Here’s where to stay.

Quick answer: stay in the old town for atmosphere and the main beach, Praia da Oura or the Strip for nightlife, Santa Eulália and Falésia for families and beautiful beaches, or Galé and Salgados to the west for calm, golf and dunes. See places to stay in Albufeira.

The best areas

Old town

Lanes of white houses, restaurants and bars above Praia dos Pescadores. It’s lively but charming. Try the adults-only Rocamar on the clifftop or Hotel Sol e Mar right above the beach.

Praia da Oura and the Strip

Nightlife central, with bars and clubs along Avenida Sá Carneiro. Best for groups and young travellers. Try Muthu Clube Praia da Oura.

Santa Eulália, Balaia and Falésia

East of town, with clifftop resorts and long beaches. Great for families. Try Grande Real Santa Eulália, Pine Cliffs, the adults-only Falésia Hotel, or EPIC SANA.

Olhos de Água

A small fishing village between Albufeira and Falésia, quieter and more local. See places to stay.

Galé and Salgados

West of town, with a long sandy beach, golf and a lagoon. Try Vila Galé Cerro Alagoa (closer to the centre) or NAU Salgados Dunas Suites.

Tips

  • Noise: avoid the Strip if you want quiet nights.
  • Hills: the old town is steep; look for hotels with shuttles or lifts.
  • All-inclusive: see the best hotels in Albufeira.
