The Best Beaches in Albufeira

By the Travel Portugal Now team · Published 2 October 2026

Albufeira has dozens of beaches, from the busy town beach to long sandy stretches under red cliffs and quiet coves. Here are the best beaches in Albufeira and what each is best for.

Quick answer: the most spectacular is Praia da Falésia, with red and orange cliffs and miles of sand. In town, Praia dos Pescadores and Penéco are easy to reach. For coves and rock formations, try São Rafael, Coelha and Castelo. For families, Santa Eulália, Oura and Galé are good choices.

  • Praia dos Pescadores and Penéco: the town beaches, reached through a tunnel or by lift from the old town.
  • Praia da Oura: a lively beach near the Strip.
  • Santa Eulália: a sheltered beach with facilities, good for families.
  • Olhos de Água: a fishing-village beach with freshwater springs visible at low tide.
  • São Rafael: golden sand and sea stacks west of town.
  • Coelha and Castelo: small, pretty coves among the rocks.
  • Galé and Salgados: long sandy beaches to the west, near the dunes and lagoon.

Tips

  • Arrive early in summer for parking at the coves.
