The Best Hotels in Lagos, Portugal (Every Budget)

By the Travel Portugal Now team · Published 2 October 2026

Lagos is our favourite base in the Algarve: a lively old town inside medieval walls, gorgeous cove beaches, boat trips to the grottos of Ponta da Piedade and great restaurants. Here are the best hotels in Lagos for every budget, from clifftop wellness resorts to good-value guesthouses in the centre.

Quick answer: for luxury, Cascade Wellness Resort (clifftop, spa, kids’ club) or Iberostar Selection on Meia Praia. For a stylish central stay, Lagos Avenida. For families, Vila Galé Lagos or Tivoli Lagos. For value, Hotel Marina Rio or Dona Ana Garden. Stay in or near the old town if you don’t have a car.

Where to stay in Lagos

  • Old town: walk to restaurants, bars and the marina. Can be noisy at night in summer.
  • Meia Praia: a long, flat beach east of town, with big resorts. Great for families; about 10–20 minutes’ walk or a short taxi to town.
  • Dona Ana and Porto de Mós: near the famous cove beaches and Ponta da Piedade, quieter and a little uphill.

Booking tips

  • Book early for July and August, when Lagos is full and prices are highest.
  • Parking: the old town is tricky for cars, so check your hotel’s parking.
  • Noise: light sleepers should avoid rooms above the old town bars.
  • Getting there: about an hour from Faro airport. See Faro airport transfers.
