Portugal in June: Santos Populares, Beaches and Weather

By the Travel Portugal Now team · Published 2 October 2026

June is party month in Portugal: the Santos Populares turn Lisbon and Porto into giant street parties with grilled sardines, music and fireworks, the beaches warm up, and the summer crowds haven’t fully arrived. Here’s what to expect.

Quick answer: expect highs of 26–28°C in Lisbon and the Algarve, with long sunny days. Don’t miss Santo António in Lisbon (the night of 12–13 June) and São João in Porto (23–24 June). Lifeguards return to the beaches, and the Lisbon Book Fair runs into mid-June. Book early: festival weeks fill up.
