The Best Rooftop Bars in Porto
Porto’s best views are of the river, so its best rooftop bars sit on both banks of the Douro: port-house terraces in Gaia looking across at the Ribeira, and hotel rooftops in the centre looking over tiled roofs. These are the rooftop bars confirmed open in 2026, with sunset times, prices and booking tips.
Quick answer: for the classic view of the Ribeira and the bridge, go to the Terrace Lounge 360º at Espaço Porto Cruz in Gaia (port tonics €10). For glamour, The Yeatman. For a 360° city view until 2am, the 17º Bar. To watch the sun set over the river, Amura in Miragaia. For free, the Jardim do Morro. Arrive 30 to 45 minutes before sunset.

Which side of the river?
From Gaia, on the south bank, you look straight across at the Ribeira, the cathedral and the Dom Luís I bridge, and the evening sun turns the old town gold. From Miragaia, west of the Ribeira, you watch the sun go down over the Douro towards the sea. Rooftops in the Baixa look over roofs and church towers rather than the river, but stay open later.
Gaia: the view of Porto
1. Terrace Lounge 360º (Espaço Porto Cruz)
On the fourth floor of the Porto Cruz port house on the Gaia riverside (Largo Miguel Bombarda 23), just off the lower deck of the bridge. Expect a wooden deck, lounge sofas and a lively sunset crowd. The 2026 menu lists port tonics at €10, port cocktails at €11, port by the glass from €4.50 and a draught Super Bock at €5. It usually opens Tuesday to Saturday from 12:30pm to midnight and Sunday from 12:30pm to 7pm, and is closed on Mondays.
2. The Yeatman
The luxury wine hotel above the lodges has the grandest view of Porto. Dick’s Bar and Bistro is open to non-guests, with aged and vintage ports by the glass, a terrace for sunset drinks, a pianist from Tuesday to Saturday (6:30pm to 9:30pm) and live music on Friday and Saturday nights. It opens daily from 10am to midnight (1am on Fridays and Saturdays), and you can book online. In summer, the rooftop Bar 360º runs a set-price weekend barbecue (€65 a head without drinks in 2025). Stay here: The Yeatman.
3. Vinum at Graham’s
Higher up the hill, the restaurant at Graham’s lodge has a wine bar and a terrace hanging over the Douro, facing the bridge. Order Ria Formosa oysters or Portuguese tinned fish with a glass of port. It’s usually open daily from 11am to midnight. Book for a sunset table. See the best port cellars in Gaia.
Miragaia: sunset over the river
4. Amura (Timbre Virtudes)
A newer rooftop on the Timbre Virtudes hotel (Rua de São Pedro de Miragaia 60), which opened in 2025. Expect signature cocktails, sangria and light meals, with views down the Douro. It’s usually open from about 11am to 11:30pm, with a break on Friday afternoons. This side of town faces west, so you see the sun itself set over the river. See Miragaia.
5. Tenro by Digby (Torel Avantgarde)
The restaurant at the Torel Avantgarde hotel, on the hillside above the river, has a veranda that fills up at sunset, when the light catches both banks of the Douro. Come for cocktails and sharing plates rather than a party, and book. Stay here: Torel Avantgarde.
The Baixa and the centre
6. 17º Restaurante and Bar
On the 17th floor of the Hotel Dom Henrique Downtown, near the Bolhão market, with a 360° view over the city. An indoor bar shares the view, so it works all year, and there are terraces for fine evenings. The bar is open daily from noon to 2am. Smart casual is the norm; book for dinner.
7. PortoBello Rooftop
On the eighth floor of the Premium Porto Downtown hotel near Batalha, with old-town views that are best at sunset. Expect sandwiches, salads, gin and cocktails, usually daily from noon to 10pm. The Guindais funicular has been suspended since July 2026, so it’s a steep walk up from the Ribeira; come from the Baixa or take a taxi.
8. Wine & Books rooftop
The top floor of the Wine & Books Porto hotel on Rua de José Falcão looks from Clérigos to the Palácio de Cristal and is open to non-guests. Cocktails cost about €12 to €14. The 2026 summer programme had a Saturday DJ from 5pm, fado on the first Friday of the month (€35 with snacks) and free open-air films.
9. Ferro Bar
A casual terrace bar on Rua da Madeira, beside São Bento station, looking out to the Clérigos Tower and the cathedral, with trains below. Expect DJ sets, comedy on Thursdays and weekend concerts. It usually opens from 6pm until late, Tuesday to Sunday.
10. Douro Sky Lounge (Vincci Porto)
On the roof of the Vincci Porto hotel, a converted fish market by the river west of the centre, facing the Arrábida bridge. Expect sunset parties, live music and cocktails. It’s seasonal: usually open daily from 1pm to 9pm, April to October only.
Free alternatives
- Jardim do Morro (Gaia): the park at the top of the bridge has an outdoor bar with a counter over the Douro, selling port, wine, cocktails and snacks. It’s usually open from noon to 9pm (10pm on Fridays and Saturdays).
- Miradouro da Vitória: a quiet viewpoint over the rooftops to the cathedral and the river. Come for the view, then drink nearby.
- Passeio das Virtudes: a west-facing terrace in Miragaia where locals gather at sunset.
Since June 2025, shops in Porto can’t sell alcohol to drink in the street between 9pm and 8am, so buy drinks at a bar or kiosk with its own terrace. See the best Porto viewpoints.
Sunset timing
Sunset in Porto is at about 9:10pm in late June, 7pm in early October and just after 5pm in early December. The clocks go back on 25 October 2026, when sunset jumps to about 5:40pm. The Gaia terraces fill first. On the night of 23 June, the São João festival packs every terrace for the midnight fireworks, so book well ahead.
See it from the water: a sunset cruise on the Douro is a good alternative, and you can finish with a drink on a Gaia terrace.
Practical tips
- Prices: expect about €10 to €14 for a cocktail. Port tonics, wine and beer cost less.
- Dress code: hotel bars such as the 17º and The Yeatman usually expect smart casual. The others are relaxed.
- Weather: terraces may close in rain or wind, and it turns cool after sunset, so bring a layer.
- Getting to Gaia: walk over either deck of the bridge, take metro line D to Jardim do Morro, or ride the Gaia cable car (about €7 one way, €10 return). See Vila Nova de Gaia.
